Chrissy is a petite fawn Mastiff girl of about 7
years old, but she must be using sunscreen, because
she doesn't look nearly half her age! Chrissy is
what we like to call a 'toy Mastiff' at only 110
pounds and 26 inches tall. Her heart is as big as
they come though! She is a great size for a
pet-takes up less space in the home- but yet has the
looks of a typically beautiful English Mastiff.
Chrissy has had a difficult time in life- and
deserves the perfect home for her 'happy ever after'
story.
She is a former MCOA rescue dog who was placed in
a home where she was left unattended on an unfenced
property. Naturally she was promptly hit by a car
soon after her adoption. The owner managed to find
an Angel to pay for her surgery when she could not
afford it. Thank goodness Chrissy is fine now- and
moves wonderfully. She gets a little achy and stiff
on cold days but otherwise has no remaining
disability.
Chrissy is GREAT with other dogs of all sizes, as
long as they are calm. She's an older girl, and is
just wary of the energetic and annoyingly hyper
puppies. She seems to feel that her place is
snoozing on the couch (with you), or snoring on the
bed (with you) or dozing at your feet.
Chrissy is very shy at first, but she warms up
within a few hours after a proper introduction- and
then she will shadow you. Chrissy has some
separation anxiety, so she needs a home where her
people will be with her all or most of the time. If
left alone, we are told that she will chew things,
and needs another dog to keep her company.
Chrissy is very anxious in strange situations.. She
is nervous around strangers, when out on walks, etc,
and she will actually tremble and growl. But it's
all for show. Chrissy is a VERY submissive girl.
She's also head- and hand-shy, so please, no sudden
movements. For this reason she would be best placed
in a home without small children. She likes to be
sung to. She LOVES to talk to you. She will snuggle
you on the furniture of your choice and push her
muzzle at you until you pet her. She has the
softest, most velvety head and ears! If you forget
to keep petting or stop petting her, she will give
you a "talking to" and gently remind you to
continue. She takes treats ever so gently from your
hand, but will NOT beg for food.
We are told she is fine with cats as she used to
live with two Bengal cats and never bothered them at
all.
Chrissy is UTD on all shots, HW neg, and on
flea/tick and HW preventatives. She came to us
infested with fleas and her skin was dry and itchy
and irritated. She got a bath at her foster Dad's
home (she LOVES baths!) and was immediately started
on her flea/tick regimen. She is now flea-free and
on benadryl for the itching for the next few days.
She's already much happier, and a waggy-tail girl
ready for a loving and quiet/calm home to call her
own.
Ideally, there will be another dog there with her, older than 2 or 3 years
old-or at least out of the "Zoomie Puppy" stage.
Children should be probably older than 10, or at
least capable of understanding that she will need
them to be calm and gentle, and not loud or
boisterous. Ideally, there would be at least one
person in the home who would be there with her all
the time, or at least most of the day. Definitely we
will require a fenced yard for her. ChrissyLOVES
to be out in the yard. She also loves to "guard" the
house by patrolling the grounds and looking out the
windows. Chrissy loves laying on the couch- it would
be best for her to be able to continue being a couch
potato in her new home.
Her new home should understand that she may be a bit
slow to warm up to one or all of the family members,
but once she gives you her heart, it's the real
deal, and she will adore you for the rest of her
days.
