NOTE: SPRING/SUMMER 2009- We are in DIRE need of new foster homes can you help?

SSMR has been grateful that we have never had to turn away a Mastiff before because we could not accommodate them -and we do not want to be in that position but it is on the horizon quickly if new volunteers do not come forward in Florida and in other states. Please volunteer to foster Ellie Mae in FL or another Mastiff or in ANY of the Southern States region TODAY if you have ever thought about offering a safe refuge to a special Mastiff...now is the time to literally save the life of a Mastiff by doing what you can to help. Please help us so we dont have to turn any of them away....eight Mastiffs in a week's time is so many when we are already drowning in rescues.

Hi my name is Maggie the General, Maggie for short.

I am a very pretty two year old fawn Mastiff girl located in Dunedin FL. My story might make you sad, but don't let it get you down, since I don't! I do really miss my human sister who was about 8 years old but am ready for a new family to love who will love me back....

My owner was a nice lady until she fell upon hard times and had to move out of our home fast. She must have forgot me during the rush....or maybe she decided that she did not want the responsibility of me anymore. Thank goodness my mom's old landlords found me living in the back yard and decided to feed me and called SSMR to rescue me.

I am set to be vetted and spayed on May 20th. My skin is a bit itchy from living outside the last few months. But Boy OH Boy my luck has changed. I am now living with a great foster family! I have two human brothers and sisters to play with and a smaller fur brother (And a cat too)!

I pretty much like everything. They tell me I am a pretty girl with a nice head on me, what ever that means? I think they like me here, boy I am glad. Now I am looking for my new family and hope that they have some kids to play with that there too.

If you have the time and love for Maggie the General please contact Anne Santora at adsantora@aol.com
Here is what Maggie's foster mom said about her new foster:

"She has been great with the children at our home, good with my one cat. The other one hasn't met her yet. She loves ice. She is not crate trained but seems so far to be house trained. Does not know how to walk on a leash but will run if not on one. Knows her commands such as sit, lay, paw. The only down about her so far is that we need to fix her skin. I have enclosed a close up of her so you can get an idea. She seems to be a man's lady as well."

If you have the time and love in your heart to make me a family member for ever please fill out an adoption application at adoption application mentioning me by name and state.

For more information about me please contact Anne at adsantora@aol.com
