NOTE:
SPRING/SUMMER
2009 We are in DIRE need of new foster homes can you help? SSMR has been grateful that we have never had to turn away a Mastiff before because we could not accommodate them -and we do not want to be in that position but it is on the horizon quickly if new volunteers do not come forward in all of our covered states. Please volunteer to foster Baby in MS or another Mastiff in ANY of the Southern States region TODAY if you have ever thought about offering a safe refuge to a special Mastiff...now is the time to literally save the life of a Mastiff by doing what you can to help. Please help us so we don't have to turn any of them away....

(5/31/09) Daisy was picked up as a stray with a young male Mastiff who was not pulled from the shelter in time. Daisy is a beautiful "smutty" fawn girl who appears to be no just under a year old. Daisy is friendly with strangers, children and other dogs but hasn't been around cats so we can't say for sure how she would react. Generally, dogs this young adapt very easily to cats in the household. Overall, Daisy appears to have a Mastiff's typical sweet and gentle nature. Daisy has just been spayed and brought current on vaccinations and appears to be healthy though she is quite thin. She will be staying with a foster family that has small children and other dogs. Her first foster that kept her while she recuperated from her spay surgery reports that she is already crate trained and we anticipate she will housebreak easily. Daisy will be ready for adoption after a couple of weeks of evaluation and loving care with her foster family. Check back for updated pictures of Daisy. If you are the lucky family who wants to adopt me please submit an adoption application mentioning specifically that you are interested in DAISY in GA. If you are interested in fostering me to see how I might work out with your family, submit a volunteer form here. If you have specific questions about me, please email Karen at: ssmr.ga@bellsouth.net |
