What is the best time and phone to reach you?

Give the age of each child living in your home and indicate if the child/children live with you all the time or if they are just regular visitors.

It is not required you be a member of MCOA or SSMF to be a Rescue Volunteer, but we do strongly encourage you to join either or both of the organizations.  SSMF is the sister organization to SSMR and works to earn money to help support SSMR. SSMF has a quarterly newsletter and shares a lot of information about Mastiffs. Being a part of SSMF is a great way to meet other Mastiff owners & to learn more about our breed whether you are a lifelong Mastiff owner or a first time Mastiff adopter and whether you like to show your dogs or if like most of us, you just enjoy sharing your life with a Mastiff or Mastiffs at home. Home Visits - Home visits are necessary prior to placing a dog in a new home.  Will you be willing to do home visits?

Transportation

There is sometimes a need to transport dogs from animal shelters, from owners, etc. or to transport a newly adoptive dog to its new owner.  To ensure everyone’s safety, it is recommended the dog be crated within the vehicle.

Evaluation:

Are you able to evaluate a mastiff in regards to temperament, behavior, sociability, or adoptability?  This is a critical task and will require a person knowledgeable about the breed with experience working specifically with mastiffs.

How long have you known the mastiff breed?

Foster Care:

This is possibly the most important aspect of volunteering and not to be done without a great deal of thought.  It is also the most needed. You must be able to separate the rescue dog from your own and other animals for the safety of all involved.

Describe the specific type of home you live in: Single family house, condo or other attached house, apartment or ? Be specific.

Do you have a fenced yard, and if so,  how large and what type of fence?

How many  hours a day would your foster dog be alone?

If you wish to foster, SSMR will send you a Family Profile Form to complete and a home visit by a SSMR volunteer will be required prior to placing a foster dog with you.

I certify the above information is true and I understand that prior to the placement of a foster mastiff in my home, the above information will be verified.  I also agree to a personal interview with a representative of SSMR, if requested, to determine the suitability of my facilities to care for a mastiff.
